Rug Color & Dye Work
Oriental rugs are known for their beautiful designs and their gorgeous colors. Sometimes, however, those colors can get a little unwieldy. Under the right set of unfortunate circumstances, the colored dyes in your rugs may bleed, run or even fade.
Burst pipes, excessive sunlight or an overturned coffee urn are all instances where you may find yourself in need of an expert colorist for your rug. Whether you need dyes in your rug removed or re-applied, we are able to help.

Water Damage Restoration
Water and moisture are no friends of Persian rugs. Plumbing leaks, flooding and improper cleaning techniques can all result in instances of rug color running. You are most likely to notice this when colors such as red or blue bleed into areas that are beige or white.
No amount of cleaning will remedy this issue, but there are many dye-removal techniques that can be deployed in order to vastly improve your damaged rug.
- Our process includes the painstaking application of dye removers using small brushes in order to remove unwanted dyes from your carpet.
- Then, if necessary, areas that have lost dye can be re-dyed.

Sun Fading
Over time, the sun can fade your carpets. It happens so slowly that you usually don’t even notice it until you move a large piece of furniture, exposing the non-faded, bright colors underneath.
When this type of damage occurs, we have the ability to re-dye the faded areas to match either the original color or the less-faded colors in other portions of the rug.
While we are happy to dye rugs for any customer that requests it, know that fading is not always a bad thing. Some antique rugs are actually worth more because they have a lovely aged patina. Where you run into problems with fading is when it is uneven. In order to prevent this, consider rotating your rug yearly so all areas of the rug are equally exposed to the sun.
Dye-Based Stain Removal
The most difficult stains are dye-based stains – red wine, coffee, tea, juice or pet urine. When these stains are not attended to in a timely fashion, they become a permanent part of your rug that no amount of spot cleaner can remove.
We treat these stubborn stains the same as we do rug color running, by carefully utilizing dye removers and small brushes. We have a great track record of dramatically improving the look of any badly stained rug.
