This Antique Hamadan Persian rug has gotten almost a century of love and is ready for many many more years of use. As can be seen in the photos, this rug has a warm patina from decades of life that has just softened the bright blues and rust colors of this grand piece.
This rug has some abrash (color variations due to age), an example of which I’ve pictured in pic 2, which adds to the warmth and charm, and validates the age of this piece. The bindings of this rug have been replaced professionally by hand to preserve the rug, and this rug has been overcast on its ends to prevent further unraveling (as you can see in pic 3 that outer “barber pole” border on the bottom edge is almost gone because of age and wear, but it has been secured).
Our shop carried many Hamadans because they are very sturdy pieces and they never disappoint. They can make it to 50, 60, even 100+ years of age and still be usable. Paired with deep navy walls, this rug would look quite smart in a den or study. You can see examples of Persian rugs in studies here.
