This fine Mashad Persian rug is really a showpiece. The weave is incredibly tight for a Mashad, and this is just a gorgeous example of Mashadi weaving and design. You’ll notice that there are two full-on photos of this rug, one from the dark side and one from the light side, so you can see what the tightness of weave can do to change the color from one direction to the next. What is striking about this piece is that it is enormous and yet still has no medallion. This makes it a perfect pick for a room with an off-centered fireplace, focal point, or asymmetrical furniture placement.
This rug is a trade-in from a customer, and is in great shape. It shows little to no wear and has all of its original parts. One would never believe it was woven in the 1970s because it could pass for new. With its high knot count, this rug will be able to really hold its own with high-end antiques and heirloom pieces.
