This large red Kashan Persian rug is the quintessential Persian rug. It is in the most traditional style and traditional color scheme possible. Kashans are absolutely timeless and never go out of fashion, and this rug is no exception. This particular rug bears the signature of a famous Kashani weaver by the name of Isfahanian. Isfahanian Kashan rugs tend to be of a higher quality and tighter weaves than average Kashan rugs. The signature of Isfahanian rugs are always made inside of a little crown which you can see pictured. The translation of the signature is, “Kashan Isfahanian 307.” The number is most likely an inventory number.
This Kashan rug is a wonderful pick for your formal living room. You can see examples of Persian rugs in living rooms here. The rug is large enough to fill the entire room, including under your sofa. Additionally, this rug is in what we call an all-over pattern. It lacks a central medallion so it could be used in a room with an off-center focal point. This room-sized Kashan Persian rug is in amazing shape with no stains, smells, holes or tears, and it was recently professionally cleaned. It does not appear to have seen much if any use.
