Qum is a famous city in Iran, both for its religious history, and since the 1930s, for its beautiful rugs. Fatima al-Masumeh, the sister of a beloved descendent of the Prophet Muhammad, is buried in the city of Qum. Shi’a Muslims from around the world make pilgrimages to her shrine.
