Description
This Yalameh area rug is is a beautiful and sturdy pick for a family room or den. It has a bold, geometric pattern in a very tight weave which makes for a clear and distinct design. Usually, tribal and geometric rugs have coarser weaves and floral and city rugs have tight weaves. The little town of Yalameh makes rugs that are exceptions to the rule.
Yalameh is a small town in the Southwest of Iran in Fars province. It is close to the city of Shiraz, which is known for its rugs, its poets, its wine and its lovers. (Yes, you read that right. And, yes, in the Islamic Republic of Iran.) Qashqai rugs are also from this region, and you’ll notice that they share a lot of stylistic elements with their Yalameh and Shiraz Persian rug cousins.
This rug is vintage, but it appears to have been barely used or never used. It has decades of life left in it, and it will hold up to use and abuse quite well. For this reason, this rug would do quite well in a high-trafficked living room. You can see Persian rugs in living rooms here. Enjoy!
